Athens plenary meeting of the HiDALGO2 partners

On June 20 & 21 we had a productive meeting in Athens, where all project partners gathered for a 2-day extended discussion on our project’s progress and the next important steps.

We were also introduced to our Advisory Board members who will review and provide their input on our next steps.

On the first day, after a first overview of the whole project, we proceeded with more detailed discussions on various work packages like work package 1 on management activities, work package 5 on use case status and tasks related to tackling various global challenges, work package 3 on exascale HPC and HPDA/AI support, work package 4 on data exploration and visualization and finally, work package 6 on outreach, awareness, and impact creation.

The second day included initially voting on Grant Agreement changes and remaining arrangements. The meeting continued with an analysis of work package 2, thus the Centre Operation, Dashboard, and Service Offering. The technical roadmap of the project was then discussed in detail as well as what is required in respect of data analytics to complete the processing workflow related specifically to the pilots. Partners were afterwards split into working groups presenting different issues like WRF, visualisation tools, and uncertainty quantification. As dissemination and communication is also an important task in this project, there was also a report on past and ongoing activities and a discussion on forthcoming dissemination events and partners’ involvement.

The meeting took place in the wonderful working space of Impact HuB Athens and partners had also the opportunity to relax and discuss in a great urban garden on the evening of the 20th.

We thank our Greek partner Computing Systems Laboratory (CSLab) from the National Technical University in Athens for the wonderful hosting and whole organisation activities.
